ITV Coronation Street's Colson Smith bids farewell as he debuts transformation

Coronation Street star Colson Smith has bid farewell to his facial hair after growing it out while taking a break for Christmas. The 25-year-old was all set to return to sets on Tuesday morning but he had the small issue of having to shave off the hair on his face before returning.

Colson’s character Craig Tinker is known for his baby-faced look and so for continuity purposes, it was time to ditch the beard for the ITV star. The soap star took to his Instagram stories to share a selfie of himself with his 182,000 followers.

In the picture, Colson could be seen sporting stubble on his face, as he wore a Winter coat, black cap and some ear pods in his ears. He wrote over it: “It’s back to work in the morning. Which means. Back to Craig Tinker.”

With a second selfie posted, he said: “You guessed it. BYE BYE BEARD,” with NSYNC’s song Bye, Bye, Bye playing. He later showed off his transformation with a clean-shaven look and told his fans: “CRAIGY’S BACK.” (sic)

The following morning, Colson returned to the cobbled streets of Weatherfield as he showed himself inside the police station his character Craig works in.

The actor previously showed off an incredible ten stone weight loss transformation after deciding to overhaul his lifestyle.

Speaking in 2022, Colson said he found a new confidence and passion in running.

He said: “I don’t know how long it took me to decide that I was now a runner.

“Every run until at least May was for the benefit of losing weight, but then something clicked and it wasn’t about that any more.

“I became more interested in what running actually was.”

The ITV star went on to create a documentary called Bored of Being the Fat Kid, which gave fans an insight into how he lost the weight.

Aside from running, the actor also does a lot of rowing and weight training at the gym which has aided his successful weight loss journey.
